The Night Is Ours ~ with audio

The Night Is Ours

and the morning
waking beside each other

sun and moon in an embrace
from horizon to horizon

proximity a measure of
darkness and light

the mere sight of one by the other
a shared light, free of shadow

I found this poem in my “Unfinished” folder, in four drafts dating from June 2020 through August 2020. I’m sure it was inspired by something I read on WordPress, but I just can’t place it. I think it makes a good counterpoint to yesterday’s poem.

  1. Would love to find a wall hanging with that image – perhaps in a greyish clay – to add to our collection of suns and moons. Gary is a Leo. I’m a Cancer. He came with quite a few wall-hangings of suns and a couple of moons … which added to my many moons and a couple of suns yielded us a living room with a wall of suns facing a wall of moons.
This poem is a keeper, too – “shared light, free of shadow” might be the ultimate metaphor for a well-matched couple!

  2. Ken, maybe you don’t need to know where it came from. It must be from within you. The sheer the sheer vastness and togetherness speak with
    Beauty.
