Summer Storm

Summer Storm

With sudden dark
Summer’s storms announce their intent
With sudden dark
While the clouds send us livid sparks
Lightning strikes, and when they relent
They leave us, all energy spent,
With sudden dark

Sail Away

Sail Away

To sail away
Let’s set a course across the sea
To sail away
We’ll board our barque at break of day
And journey then most leisurely
Together, as we’re meant to be
To sail away

Jane Dougherty’s Poetry Challenge #37: Red boat is to write a rondolet inspired by Odilon Redon’s La Voile jaune (The Yellow Sail), using the word journey.
As seen at Odilon Redon – The Complete Works, a boat (or barque) appears frequently in his paintings.
Rondolet ~ 7 lines with 2 rhymes – AbAabbA
~ the refrain has 4 syllables.
~ the other lines have 8 syllables
