color gone
as night awakens
dim dusk light
crescent moon rises
pale color returns
This gogyohka is my response to Colleen’s #TankaTuesday Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 247, #SynonymsOnly at Word Craft: Prose and Poetry,
using dusk and color for the offered words, twilight and hue.
I suppose you could say it’s a “short-line”tanka, as the syllables are consistent.

Beautiful! Watching the moon materialize on horizon is always stirring, and you’ve captured the magic.
I stared at the crescent moon last night late … glad I did as rain has arrived and is predicted to stick around several days.

Thank you.
We were in St. Louis this past weekend. We had some pretty lousy weather driving home on Monday, the storm that swept across the state. Heading west in the evening, I watched that crescent moon as we drove out of the clouds.

Around here, it seemed elusive with cloudy nights, but it wasn’t afraid to show its face during the day. This mid-Missouri weather can be unpredictable (or would that be predictable) with fronts from the north meeting fronts coming up from the Gulf.

We have been mostly covered in clouds the past week. But perhaps tonight…

Both the moon and the sun are so exquisite during this time of the year. Lovely poem!

Even as it holds an allure, darkness can be a curse that can hold its grip long after it is gone.

It is quite amazing the details we can get with photography. Lovely image.
As for what to call our verses? Sometimes I think ‘poem’ is enough.

This is a lovely gogyohka tribute to the autumn moon. I finally saw the moon the other night before the clouds rolled in once again. Yesterday, we had lake-effect moisture roll across Lake Michigan and into the state. The moon has been elusive this fall. 😀
