The Purrfect Place to Nap
I’m curious. No. Furious.
Your lap is otherwise occupied,
tied down by papers waiting
to be shredded, the demise dreaded
by any who cross the path
of a cat filled with wrath.
This poem is inspired by a page from Claudia McGill’s
Small Wordless Sketchbook 2020.
I’m fortunate that my cat, who is on my lap purring right now, is not filled with wrath. 😀

They do have a knack for finding warmth. If a warm car is sitting in our driveway, one of our cats will jump onto the hood of the car.

Very poetic cat, Ken. I love the poem and cats know what they want.

This is fantastic! As a cat family member (I do not say owner, he and all the other cats I’ve ever lived with are here on their own terms all right) you have captured the whole relationship in these short lines. I have a cat now who loves to sit in my lap (when I sit down it mean to him that he’s got to jump up and settle in) and he does so no matter what is in his way, including books or papers. And speaking of shredding, it made me think of when I used to sew a lot, and I would lay out the fbric and pattern pieces on the floor to pin and cut out. Whatever cat was around always came and lay down on the tiissue-like paper pieces and some got shredded, all right. Thank you for this happy memory poem.

Love it! I have a little white dog who has so many cat characteristics…Number one being he has to jump in my lap if I have any type of reading material…even my laptop!
Hope you are well…

Thank you, Lorrie. 🙂
I’ve had a cat decide to actually lay on my laptop. That’s one way of delivering a message.

I clicked on this first, as I went down your entries, because it was about cats. How true it is! Woe is me! I have one on my lap right now!

I’m hungry.
I’m cold.
I’m lonely.
I want to be on the other side of that door.
Let me in.
Let me out.
