look skyward
when seeking answers
the moon knows
This haiga/senryū is my response to
Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 196: #ThemePrompt,
with the words sourced from my magnetic poem Understanding.
Background image: crescent moon, 24 June 2020
(The theme for the prompt is “The Night Sky.”)
Indeed the moon does, wonderful.

Simply beautiful, Ken. I too find the night sky comforting and inspirational. Hope you are keeping well and staying safe.

It is comforting. Thank you, Kim.
Safe as possible. Missouri is now a red zone (hot spot) for coronavirus, and my city/county ranks second in the state. Meanwhile, the only masks are in businesses that require them. This morning, I went to a hospital for a checkup. Everyone wore a mask (required). Just before that, I went to my chiropractor, where no one – staff & patients – wore a mask. Go figure.

It’s scary as all get out, Ken. We decided we would wear masks everywhere. AZ has been doing better, but cases are on the rise again!

Our governor and his wife just tested positive. He tells people to protect themselves and wear masks, but he refuses to make it a requirement. Meanwhile, Missouri is currently in the top 5.

I’m petrified! The Washington Post will let you subscribe to the Virus articles for free. I’ve been reading how the virus has already mutated and it’s becoming more transmissible. Then, you have a dictator who refuses to leave office no matter what the election results. We bought a small freezer today. All I can think of is to batten down the hatches!

I know. It is the same here. A lot of people live in their own worlds of make believe. It’s shameful, especially among professional and medical people.

There is so much conflict on the right thing to do. The politics are ridiculous.
Let’s hope those of us who attempt to stay healthy have the brains to help provide the solution to all.
If only the moon could provide us with the answers – we just need to listen harder.
