a growing distance
in absence of affection
no longer lovers
This senryū is my response to
Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge
No. 148 #SynonymsOnly, which offers empty and space as prompt words.
I have used “absence” and “distance” as synonyms.
Oh dear, how sad.

Lots of information in this little haiku. I’m especially struck by the absence of affection- affection rather than love or desire, To me it translates as a lose of the inclination to be kind, and so precludes friendship with this former lover, an intimate who now is truly lost to the narrator.

A relationship without any life.
Thank you.

Simple and to the point but the meaning there… you can feel the emptiness. Well done, Ken!
