always early morning
awake in light of near-
yet-distant star
the only shadows falling
beneath measured steps
of men long gone
I dreamt I was the moon
“I dreamt I was the moon” is a line from Full Moon, by Alice Oswald.

Intriguing … especially shadows falling beneath steps
I’m getting into a month-long collage “class/group” focused on the moon cycle … thank you for spicing that up a bit!

🙂 Thank you, Jazz.
Sometimes, it helps to go into magnetic poetry with some ideas. I had a poem of three or four lines that just wasn’t working, so I thought I’d see what The Oracle had to say about it. The general idea is still there, but most of it came from seeing the available words. That last line was the only thing that survived once I started using the magnets.

That last line was a dverse prompt last week (I think). I like your version.

Thank you, Jane.
I missed that.

Now I think of it, the prompt was for a piece of fiction not a poem. It suits a poem well though.

I see what you mean, Merril. That was the day I drove home from Buffalo, so I must have seen it the next morning. I’m back to following WordPress again, but with another two weeks off in September, I might be caught up by New Years!

I don’t think I’ll ever be caught up! 🙂

I like all the associations with these words. From the earth to the moon and back.
The Oracle knows all about the moon…(K)
