the aroma of pine ~ troiku

Carpe Diem #1676 Troiku Month – the aroma of pine offers
a haiku by Hamish “Managua” Gunn (
in blue) to be used to create a troiku.

the aroma of pine
and the young morning’s fresh rain
reach my words
               Hamish “Managua” Gunn

the aroma of pine
branches swaying in the breeze
carpet of needles

and the young morning’s fresh air
wakens my senses this day
sign that all is well

reach my words
consider them testament
beauty in nature

A troiku is three haiku, with each of the three lines from a suggested haiku as the first line of each haiku in the troiku. It’s not always possible to have a 5-7-5 format in the second haiku, due to the limitations of the suggested haiku. The name of the form is derived from “troika,” a sled or carriage drawn by three horses harnessed side-by-side, an iconic symbol of Imperial Russia.

  1. Your post reminds me of the aroma that I used to smell every morning when I was studying in college. Now that I am away from home, I could only imagine the pine trees that surrounds the house where I stayed. Thanks for sharing.
