Two Hearts in Love
Would rain have made any difference?
What is grass without water?
A maple.
An oak.
Each would welcome it.
Allowed to flow, growth will
follow. A benediction.
Vows spoken in the open air would gather
on each raindrop, bringing life,
as each leaf, each blade, would
gather those raindrops.
Instead, those words were carried
by sunlight that shone on those
who welcomed them into their hearts, all
sharing in the love, this day.
Yet it was not sunlight, nor was it rain
that made this day possible.
It was two hearts in love.
Ahh …, I love this poem and it is as it should be.
It was two hearts in love.

Indeed. The weather says love today.

This is beautiful – actually makes me yearn for ceremony in the rain – love the thought of raindrops collecting/carrying vows to all surrounding plants (and people!)
Wonderful photo, also. That would’ve been more challenging in the rain.

๐ Thank you, Jazz.
The sentiment was more important to them than the weather, but I know they were happy the forecast for storms didn’t pan out.

Never thought of rain being romantic in this way, but you have it right.
Rain gets a bad press, but I love it. It brings life after all…

Thank you. The weather was super iffy for my grandson’s wedding, but they wound up with a nice sunny day.

Yesterday was the 66th wedding anniversary for Pat and I. (Pat sadly having passed away 11 years ago but the poem resonated for me. So glad it was fine for the happy couple.

Thank you. They shone, just as the sun did on them. ๐
