given in sorrow
hope found in Easter lily
waiting to open
sign of beauty within loss
flowering for a decade
This tanka is a response to last week’s prompt in
Frank Tassone’s #Haikai Challenge #82: Easter lily.

I’ve had this Easter lily since my mother’s funeral in 1988.
It has survived from pot to larger pot and has flowered nearly every year.
This is such a touching, and lovely piece.

Beautiful. We also call it aPeace Lily or Spathyphylum. A very strong and favourable plant. Also a Top Air Cleaner. Given care it will, yes, last for years and grow into a quite large bush. Once again a beautiful write my friend. 🙂🌼

It’s in its third pot, now.

Cool! Ther’re the best! I’ve had at least 15 years experience with plants. Not working with them currently I miss that. It’ll happen again. 🙂

Ken, your poem is beautiful as is the plant. I do love them and used to have
A couple for very long time. My mother always had several.
It touched the heartstrings to see and hear your post.
