kites drifting slowly
over swallows racing by
circling hawk above
My haiku is in response to the prompt for Carpe Diem #1641 – a modern kigo,
which provides the word kite as a spring kigo.
The breeze coming off the Niagara River,
a quarter-mile from my home when I lived in Western New York,
made a park along the Niagara River the perfect venue for kite festivals.
