failing
your failing breath
through a broken window
moon shadow
Rachel Sutcliffe
darkest night
like your breathing
lost moonlight
Rachel Sutcliffe, an accomplished and recognized haiku poet,
died this past week. My senryū is a response to
Frank Tassone’s #Haikai Challenge #70: Rachel Sutcliffe,
which asks us to use one of Rachel’s poems as inspiration.

This is beautiful. I wasn’t familiar with Rachel’s work, but now I’ve gone and looked her up thanks to you.

Thank you. She was new to me, as well. I do enjoy her haiku.

There is so much contained in each of her haikus. You’ve caught one side of this one. (K)

Somewhere I heard or read that Cesar’s last breath of ‘Et Tu Brut’s’ is still floating around the cosmos.

Beautiful tribute, Ken. I wasn’t familiar with her either, but will be looking up her work. Thank you for such a poignant introduction.
