I submitted the five poems here to Pure Haiku for Freya’s latest theme, Portal.
The fourth and fifth haiku were featured at Pure Haiku
on November 20th and October 15th.
Portal
beneath arching boughs
leading to shadowy depths
path reveals splendor
sample on glass slide
discovery magnified
revealing knowledge
inviting starlight
gateway to the universe
distant galaxy
light shifting to red
on pathway to the unknown
event horizon
aged oak timber
tales told in each line of grain
imposing entrance
Congrats, Ken. 🙂

All 5 great individually … PLUS I got a spark reading the second with first still in mind … path & slide interchanged … startling & memorable … path ahead will now always seem a “slide”

Thank you, Jazz. I wrote them in this order and in a short window of time. I guess this says something about my train of thought.

I love the idea of magnification as a portal. I don’t know how Freya manages to narrow her choices down–these are all wonderful. (K)

Thank you, Kerfe.
With all the responses that Freya receives, it’s an honor to be selected.

Congratulations again, Ken. I like reading them all in order like this. It’s almost like a story.

Thanks, Merril. I like that Freya’s prompts take me in directions I might not have considered.

Oh, yes – new directions.
Freya has her new word that you can’t use up 😉
#2 reminds me of being in school and looking through a microscope for the first time. 🙂
