I enjoy the moon shadows on snow, especially before the little critters make tracks.

I like the sense of presence in the tracks.
I couldn’t find a way to say that, but these two lines would make it a tanka. (Thank you for the prompt!)
squirrel tracks climb the branches
telling me I’m not alone

Reminds me of the time I did see a fox trotting in the snow… via moon light.
One might add:
after the deer pass
their stories make impressions
the bright stars cannot
