One Island

Crafted to represent our lives flowing together
Two islands.
Your life. Mine.
Time flowing around,
between, shifting them,
until they are one.
Captured in a band
of gold, our life
together.
The prompt from Sarah (sarahsouthwest) for Mindfulness and poetry – Tuesday poetics at dVerse is to hold a small object in your hand. Sense it. Feel it. Describe it.
Rings are a grand choice for this prompt. Married thrice, I did not keep the rings of failure. 26 years with wife #3; guess this one is going to work. Arthritis threatens my wedding ring. I may have to shed it one day; frown.

Thank you.
You could always place it on a chain.

I like the image of time flowing like a river around the islands. Quiet passion.

This is beautiful – the image, the time-as-river metaphor, the model for togethering. Thank you!

Thank you, Jazz.
I described it as a river when I gave the sketch to the jeweler. I counted on his sense of proportion, and we were not disappointed.

Yes, the sands of time moving you towards one another to the circle of life together. It’s beautiful and so are the rings

If those rings could talk, they would have stories to tell! I like your take on this prompt.

Your poem is so gentle and honest, Ken. I love that your rings have been crafted to represent your lives flowing together and
‘Time flowing around,
between, shifting them,
until they are one’.
