mountain fog parting
dry grass where plums once blossomed
warrior longs for home
~~
sun grows while rising
mist lifting from mountain path
grass heavy with dew
I have two variations in my response to the challenge in Carpe Diem Crossroads #5 scent of plum blossoms, to write a new haiku
inspired by the words in two haiku (“fusing” them)
~ both written by Matsuo Bashō ~
summer grasses
all that remains
of warriors dreams
Bashō
~~~~~
scent of plum blossoms
on the misty mountain path
a big rising sun
Wow. You’re definitely fully immersed in these. Great work; I think even Basho would be impressed.
Great work, Ken. I love these ‘fused’ haiku. The second one particularly.
I usually miss the prompts, which is unfortunate. They are good exercises.
I have to say the first one, “mountain fog parting”, is my favourite. So poignant – “warrior longs for home”!
Thank you, Lynne. That line was the first to come to me after reading the prompt.
I really liked the sense of time and loss in the first one.
Wow what a beautiful set you have created Ken, but that first version is one of the best ever created by you. A masterpiece.
