dark souls

dark souls

dark souls

passion             without compassion
breeds a darkness    a despair
that overcomes      takes the soul
regardless of              intentions
attempts                      fabricated
to feign                         kindness
empathy                         absent

This cleave poem is my response to Jane Dougherty’s November Yeats Challenge: Day Two (each day a new Yeats quote).

“… the dark folk who live in souls
Of passionate men, like bats in the dead trees;” —W.B. Yeats

A cleave can be read as a single poem and as two separate poems – left side and right.
