warmth of morning fire
pushing away night’s dampness
sun waiting to rise
dew clinging to cottage eaves
veil of smoke bringing comfort
Using smoke and veil, this tanka is my response to a challenge from Colleen Chesebro: Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Challenge #37: SMOKE & VEIL.

Lovely words–I feel like there’s a whole story here. I wonder who lives in that cottage?

And are they happy in their seclusion? There are so few places that are more than a digital connection away, these days.
