Relay of Fire
War drums echoed the clamor of clouds
Calling to arms all able men
Signal sent in ancient times
Old rivals always lurk
Danger at our door
Swifter response
Is needed
Light the
Fire
This nonet is my response to Sue Vincent’s (Daily Echo) Thursday Photo Prompt – Beacon #writephoto, with her photo.
Nonet ~ a poem of nine lines and a syllable pattern of 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, with rhyme optional

Here’s a bit of poetry in response to a writing prompt. I like the prompt and the result – very historic response and one that grabs my attention as a fantasy writer. I can imagine the danger behind lighting the beacon and call men to arms. It’s the stuff of good story – kudos!

Light the fire. Pass it on. 😉

Master of the nonet. You say such much in few words. I like the allusion to an older time. Well done.

I love how the urgency is felt through the shorter and shorter lines.

I could feel the sense of gravity building with each line. Beautifully done. I think I would recognize your work anywhere.
