Caged
If caged I am, then what the cage
That holds me back, as I propose
How to escape, if not to gauge
If caged I am, then what the cage
That comes to play as we engage
Imposed by you, or one I chose
If caged I am, then what the cage
That holds me back, as I propose
My response to Sue Vincent’s (Daily Echo) Thursday Photo Prompt – Caged – #writephoto, with her photo, is a triolet.
Triolet ~ stanza poem, rhyme scheme ABaAabAB
~ (CAPITALS denote repeated lines)
Everyone is writing triolets at the moment! I like this one a lot. It makes a sort of circular argument, rather than a refrain.

The triolet from Louis reminded me that I’d not written one in a while.

That’s a very good reason to write one 🙂

The internal argument externalised. I too like this a lot. Thanks, Ken.

The circles of the words echo the cage. (K)

Caged by words, perhaps, or is that possible?

That could be, especially if misinterpreted. I also was thinking of someone so averse to change as to accept conditions as they are, rather than moving on.

Your triolet is a clever response to Sue’s photo prompt.
