La Somnambule (Sleep-Walker), Marc Chagall
a siren calls
it is the moon
whispering
the cat hears
and wisely stays
indoors
too many nights spent
under its spell
wandering
Jane Dougherty’s Weekly Poetry Challenge #39: Sleep walking asks us to write a poem inspired by Marc Chagall’s La Somnambule (Sleep-Walker). Instead of the suggested cinquain, I’ve gone with free verse.

Lovely. I’m glad the cat stayed in. 🙂

While the cat’s away, the folks will sleepwalk.

Well, it’s good our cats are indoor cats then. Our daughters used to imagine our cats had parties when we were away. 🙂
