your phrases, no less seductive
dance their way
through my mind
reaching me
not through lines, pole-to-pole,
but tower-to-tower
open airwaves
for the world to grasp
witness our exchange
amidst the cacophony of
meaningless chatter
all falls silent
the world
spellbound by our
serenade and response
our mutual surrender
unmistakable in
words woven through heartbeats
The words to this poem were forming in my mind even as I read Serenade, by Poet Girl Em. I felt it needed a response. In a time when phone lines are increasingly replaced by cells, we wonder who is listening in. And, at times, does it even matter? I remember Skype sessions that made me feel this way.

My pleasure! Home in Missouri for a few days with a new kayak for table rock lake…hoping to find poetic inspiration!

You do have a way with words. The response seemed automatic.

I couldn’t link to the call, but I like the response. No one seems worried about privacy in any form…conversations loud and all around. I’m not sure what to make of it myself.

She added an audio file to her blog post, and it looks like it changed the date within the url. I corrected my link, but here it is, anyway: https://poetgirlem.wordpress.com/2016/06/08/serenade/

Ah…the telephone wires. Wireless can’t compete image-wise.
